Dear Families,
This letter is to inform you that Elmwood Place Elementary is committed to the safety and education of all of our students. I also want to clearly communicate with parents about the safety issues when they arise.
Late this morning I was informed that there was something suspicious near our playground fence on the corner of Maple Street and Highland Avenue.
I immediately went outside to investigate and upon observation of the item I contacted law enforcement. I then returned to the building and as a precautionary measure placed Elmwood Place Elementary into Lockdown Mode (where students are cleared from all hallways, locked into classrooms/areas and accounted for and no one is permitted to enter or exit the building).
Soon after, staff and students were then directed to move to the gym with their teachers to wait for further directions.
Staff and students acted quickly and orderly. Once it was officially communicated by law enforcement that our students and staff in the building were in no danger and the situation was resolved, we returned to our regular education program.
Please feel free to call me at 513-482-7115 if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Sherry Peters
Principal
