High school senior Londyn Carter was one of the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place students that were given the opportunity to intern at local nonprofit ArtWorks over the summer. She worked as an apprentice on a piece under local artist Rebecca Nava Soto, who was commissioned to design an installation for the Cincinnati Convention Center.
The piece, named Skybundle: A Codex Transmitter, is described as being rooted in Indigenous cosmologies and ancestral futurism.
Following Skybundle’s unveiling, Carter was accepted into the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. Although she is currently planning to take nursing at Cincinnati State, her portfolio being strong enough for DAAP is a noteworthy achievement.
