Superintendent's Message

As the district prepares to build an incredible, state-of-the-art facility, I envision that all of us—administrators, students, teachers, staff, parents, and citizens-at-large—will take great pride in this tremendous community asset. Since the major responsibility and mission of St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Schools is student learning and achievement as a means of readiness for college, career, and citizenship, my vision is to foster the following outcomes in a positive learning environment:

  • Students will master challenging, rigorous coursework in new and exciting ways with adequate time and resources, using the teaching strategies that are proven best practices.
  • Teachers will be of high quality and caring toward our student population, providing them with quality, differentiated instruction that enables them to maximize their potential.
  • My leadership, and that of those who lead at all levels in our organization, will be focused, clear, and goal results-oriented. Our performance will be evaluated based on goals supporting student success.
  • We will remove all barriers to student achievement and replace them with ownership, encouragement, hope, and a steadfast belief that all students will learn and succeed in a positive yet demanding culture.
  • Our educators will model that education is a noble profession and that teachers and administrators, through their impact on students, influence the future.
  • Our culture will be one in which all stakeholders have the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to interact positively with one another for mutual benefit. SBEP will welcome diversity, expand interests, integration with community businesses and resources, and increase curricular and extra-curricular opportunities.
  • High expectations for all will be part of our culture for all employed by the district.

As always, we welcome your comments and questions.
