Graduation Requirements
2009 -2011 Graduation Requirements
The Board desires that its standards for graduation meet the minimum standards of the State Department of Education as well as those of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and, further, that our high schools compare favorably with high schools in the state recognized for excellence.
The minimum requirements for graduation from high school are as follows:
English 4 units
Social Studies 3 units
Science 3 units
Mathematics 3 units
Health 1/2 unit
P.E. 1/2 unit
Electives 7 units
Total 21 units
Science units must include 1 unit of biological sciences and 1 unit of physical sciences.
Social Studies units must include 1 unit of World History, 1 unit of American History and 1 unit of American Government.
Electives units must include 1 unit or 2 half units in Business, Technology, Fine Arts or Foreign language.
In addition to the above requirements, students must pass all sections of the OGT in order to walk at graduation.
Summer school credits are accepted toward graduation provided that administrative approval has been given prior to registration for the course.
